Just finished a beautiful lunch with a woman who is attending university and is not sure where she wants to end up after graduation. We chatted about missions and visions, about career options and life goals, about bad exes, the state of the union, and the value of integrity. After chatting with her, I realized that if she is asking all of these vulnerable questions, there are probably many more of you that are confused about how to make the most of your one precious life while contributing your gifts and skills to a meaningful career. .

My simplified strategy for finding a life trajectory that will bring happiness is inspired by my incredible friend and business/life coach, @songyakesler. .
.
Step 1: Notice where you are and WHO you are right now. What is your story? What are your values, gifts and skills? What are you good at, what gives you that giddy "I-could-do-this-all-day" feeling? Maybe you're good with numbers, or people, or maybe you've always been great at leading the charge on any project. Maybe you're afraid to fail or maybe you have a debilitating anxiety disorder. .
.
Step 2: Define your goals. What does success look like? What job would you do if you had all the money in the world but still had to choose a profession? What does your perfect day look like? Oh! And my personal fav: fill in the blank: "I envision a world in which ___________."
.
.
.
Step 3: Define what is in the way of these goals. Insecurity? Fear? Lack of resources or education? Self-doubt? Toxic relationships? .
.
.
Step 4: Make a plan to address what is in the way of reaching your goals. Self-doubt preventing you from starting your own business? Work on that with positive affirmations and seek help if necessary. Along the way, through this internal work, you just might discover your calling - the career that gives you that giddy feeling every single day. .
.
.
Even though it morphs and shifts and grows with each opportunity, I am completely in love with my career and my purpose. Put in the self-work. It's worth it.

I have learned SO much from my work in @songyakesler's magnetic leadership program. If you ever get the opportunity to work with her, do it!! ✨
