Research has shown that levels of spontaneous activity, i.e. just getting up and doing something, can be related to energy intake from food. When we eat less, we are less likely to be on the move compared to when food intake is not being restricted. This is why tracking your energy and activity levels could be important in a fat loss phase. It might be that you need to make a real effort to be more active outside of the gym. At least if you keep an eye on it, you can make adjustments where necessary.
